Michael Bernstein, Executive Vice President and Portfolio Manager

Mr. Bernstein is an Executive Vice President at Brickman. Mr. Bernstein began his career at Brickman in June 2005 and has over 14 years of experience in finance, acquisitions, leasing and asset management. He is primarily responsible for acquisitions and dispositions of Brickman’s office properties. In this capacity, Mr. Bernstein underwrites multiple investment opportunities, negotiates all relevant legal documents and manages the financing process.
Prior to joining Brickman, he was a senior investment manager at Hines where he focused on acquisitions, dispositions, and asset management for the National Office Partners Fund, a joint venture between Hines and CalPERS. During his five-year tenure at Hines, Mr. Bernstein was responsible for acquiring and disposing of more than $500 million of office properties. Prior to joining Hines, he worked for CIBC World Markets as an associate where he was responsible for underwriting, originating, and structuring fixed and floating rate mortgages. Mr. Bernstein started his career in 1995 at Arthur Andersen where he focused on performing due diligence for CMBS loans.
He is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a B.S. in Accounting from Binghamton University.
Michael Esquenazi, Chief Financial Officer and Director of Property Management

Michael Esquenazi has the dual roles of Chief Financial Officer and Director of Property Management at Brickman. He started at Brickman in August 1998, and has over 23 years of experience in finance, asset management, and property management. Mr. Esquenazi is responsible for accounting and financial reporting, treasury of the portfolio, and supervising the daily management operations of Brickman’s properties.
Previously, he was a director in the Real Estate Investment Department at the Sumitomo Corporation. During his eight-year tenure at Sumitomo, Mr. Esquenazi was responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of a portfolio that consisted of two million square feet of commercial property, as well as the development and management of more than 3,000 single and multi-family residential units.
He is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a Masters degree in Taxation from Baruch College.
Douglas Barnes, Executive Vice President

Mr. Barnes is a Senior Vice President at Brickman. He began his career at Brickman in April 2005 and has over 22 years of experience in finance, asset management, property management, and development. He is responsible for the origination and asset management of opportunistic investments. Mr. Barnes focuses on debt and development properties.
Prior to joining Brickman, he was the chief operating officer of Rafferty Funding where he was responsible for real estate debt origination, underwriting, due diligence and asset management.
Mr. Barnes holds a B.A. from Bucknell University.
Tony Fineman, Executive Vice President

Mr. Fineman is an Executive Vice President at Brickman with over 16 years of experience in commercial real estate. Mr. Fineman is primarily responsible for acquisitions, and focuses on debt and equity within the distressed, value added and core plus strategies. In this capacity, Mr. Fineman identifies and underwrites investment opportunities, negotiates all relevant business and legal deal terms, and manages the financing process.
Prior to joining Brickman, Mr. Fineman was a senior member of ACF Capital Group, a private real estate investment company, where he was responsible for identifying and underwriting debt and equity investment opportunities for the firm’s principals. Prior to ACF, Mr. Fineman was a senior banker with Wachovia Bank, where he managed, structured and closed more than $30 billion of commercial real estate finance transactions, including some of the highest profile transactions in the industry. Prior to Wachovia, Mr. Fineman held various positions in commercial real estate, including a role as a banker with Nomura Asset Capital Corporation in the late 1990s.
Mr. Fineman serves on the board of the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut chapter of the Starlight Children's Foundation. Mr. Fineman received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Drexel University and a J.D. from the University of Florida.
Marious Sjulsen, Vice President

Mr. Sjulsen is a Vice President for Brickman. Mr. Sjulsen's responsibilities at Brickman include preparing analyses for real estate development projects, underwriting potential acquisitions, disposition of properties, and aiding in fund reporting and management.
Prior to working at Brickman, Mr. Sjulsen worked as an asset manager at D.B. Zwirn & Co. and an analyst at Lehman Brothers.
Mr. Sjulsen holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Chicago.
David Perlman, Vice President

Mr. Perlman is a Vice President for Brickman, focusing on financial analysis and property inspections for potential commercial real estate investments. He both performs deal due diligence and assists with the management of existing properties within the funds.
Previously, Mr. Perlman worked at Citigroup Property Investors in their high- yield real estate debt group, where he helped build and invest for a debt fund. He was responsible for modelling and structuring transactions, conducting detailed due diligence on real estate debt deals, and underwriting mortgage loans for multiple property types across the United States. Before joining Citigroup, Mr. Perlman analyzed new deals for the CMBS group at Fitch Ratings, where he modelled transactions and performed due diligence on all property types throughout the country.
Mr. Perlman graduated with a B.S.B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis, with majors in finance, history, accounting, and marketing.
