Firm History
Since inception, Brickman has acquired over three million square feet of commercial real estate.
Founded in 1992 by Bruce Brickman and Roderick O'Connor, the firm initially pursued an entrepreneurial strategy of opportunistic investments in under-managed or under-valued retail, hotel and residential properties and loans throughout the United States. With complementary backgrounds in real estate operations/development and investment banking, the partners began to build the core strategy and philosophy of "Owners. Operators. Investors.", which guides the firm today.
The partnership expanded in 1999 with the addition of Kathy Corton. Ms. Corton's background in finance allowed the firm to pursue additional debt-related opportunities, as well as maximize the financial structuring within transactions. Collectively, the partnership offers comprehensive experience in originating, acquiring, financing, operating, developing, leasing, and managing real estate-related investments.
Brickman has made significant direct and indirect investments over the firm's 15-year investing history. Since inception, the firm has acquired over three million square feet of commercial real estate space. These investments have been made in a variety of real estate assets including undeveloped land, office, multi-family, and hotel properties, as well as loans and preferred equity in real estate-related entities.
